Who we are

myEZvoice is a communication app made by EZ Voice LLC, a family company in Fort Pierce, Florida. It was built by a father for his nonverbal son, and it is sold to families and schools who need the same thing. Questions about this policy go to the contact at the bottom of the page.

What stays on the device

Everything that makes the app personal lives in the device's own storage and nowhere else:

• Boards, buttons, and phrases, including every customization a family makes.
• Photographs. A photo added to a button is written to that device only. It is never uploaded and never included in anything shared between devices, and it is gone when the person is removed or the app is deleted. Nothing in our service can receive a photograph even by accident: the app removes them before anything is sent, and none of our endpoints will accept one.
• The arrangement of the home screen and every setting the family changes.

Deleting the app from a device deletes all of it.

What we never collect

• No user accounts, usernames, or passwords for the person using the app.
• No email address, grade, attendance or assessment data for the person using the app.
• No advertising, no analytics packages, no tracking scripts, and no third-party code running inside the app. Our website counts page opens on our own server, as described above; the app does not, and nothing on either counts what a child says or does.
• No sale or sharing of data with anyone, for any purpose. There is nothing to sell.

The app cannot identify its user. There is no profile of the child anywhere in our systems.

What leaves the device, and only when the feature is used

Each item below happens only when someone uses that feature. None of it is attached to an account or an identity, because there are none.

• Speaking in the natural voice. When a phrase is spoken in the upgraded voice, the text of that phrase is sent to our server over an encrypted connection so it can be turned into speech. The audio that comes back is kept on the device and also on our server, filed under the words themselves, so the same phrase is never made twice. That file records the words and nothing else: not who said them, not when, not from which device. Nothing anywhere counts or stores what a child says. Phrases are capped at a few hundred characters.
• The SOS Family Alert button. Pressing it sends the alert message, the time, and the device's location at that moment to the family contacts the parent set up, by text message and email. Location is shared only during an emergency alert and at no other time.
• Sending a text message. The app sends only a person label, such as "mom." The actual phone number is stored in our server settings, entered by the parent, and is never present in the app itself. The message is delivered as a normal text.
• Family Sync. If a family turns on sync, the details a parent entered for their own family members, which can include a name, phone number, email, address and birthday, together with button labels and the button arrangement, are stored in a small cloud store so the family's devices can share one setup. Teachers, school staff and friends carry a name and a picture only; there is nowhere in the app to put a phone number or a birthday for them. Nothing about the child himself is stored, on our server or anywhere else: he is not an entry in the app at all, so his name, his birthday and his details have nowhere to live. Reading or writing any of this requires the family's own password. Photographs are never synced.
• Voice notes. If a parent records a voice note for their child, the recording is held in the same password-guarded store until the child's device plays it. Nothing is kept longer than three days, and at most the twenty most recent are held at any time. Three days is simply long enough that a phone which was off, flat or out of signal still got the message.

The services that carry it

We do not run our own phone lines or servers, so the features above pass through well-known providers doing one job each: our hosting provider serves the app, a messaging provider delivers texts and emergency alerts, an email provider delivers the email copy of an alert, a speech provider turns phrase text into audio, and a storage provider holds the password-guarded family settings. Each receives only what its job requires and none of it is tied to an account or a profile, because the app has neither. Text messages and emails, once delivered, also exist on the receiving phone and with the carriers, the same as any text or email.

Children

myEZvoice is used by children and teenagers, so this part is stated plainly. The app collects no personal information from the person using it. It has no way to. There is no sign-up, no name field for the user, no age question, and no identifier. The information in Family Sync is entered by a parent or guardian, about people the family chooses, guarded by the family's password. A photograph of a person is only ever on the device where the family added it.

Keeping it and deleting it

• Everything on the device: delete the app and it is gone.
• Family Sync settings: overwritten each time the family saves, and removed entirely on request.
• Voice notes: nothing is kept longer than three days, and at most twenty at a time. Removed sooner on request.
• Emergency alerts and text messages: delivered and done. We do not keep a message history in the app or a log of what a child said.

Changes and contact
